The itinerent showing scheduled for June, 2000 at the main United
Nations building in Geneva will lead visitors through the following
main themes :
- Places: cities, travels,meetings, family sites, tradition and
places of inspiration.
- Situations: Borges' works are built around a language, myth and
language, what's real and what isn't, fiction and dreams.
- Personalities: associates and those who influenced his language,
men who are at the same time models of brute force and fragility
whose words form answers which aren't.
- Writings: books, poems, manuscripts, history, philosophy and etc.
- Language: Borges' invention is that of a language and. through
that language, to a coherent universe of myths such as the labyrinth,
Oedipus and the Sphynx, the Phoenix, the Minotaur, the mirror,the
Tower of Babel and others.
Different points of the stroll will be made up to represent a
passage towards either a new theme or a new period :
- His childhood: family, travels and cities
- Pre-and post-war: education and readings
- The 1950's and 60's: writings, language and meetings
- The later years: homages and conferences
